FAR/AIM Version 2.0 Released

Author: John Kelly  |  Category: FAR/AIM Android App

The long awaited (at least for me) version 2.0 of the FAR/AIM app for Android has been released to the Android Market.  Existing customers will get this update for FREE.  This new version was a complete code re-write, as I wanted to pave the way for new features down the road.  It has a much prettier and easier to use interface as well as fixes many of the bugs that existed with the old database that contained the FAR’s and AIM data.  Hopefully there will be no more (Missing Part ##.## comments).  I tried very hard to get the app to work on as many devices as possible, but that is getting harder and harder to do with all the new devices coming out.  Please let me know if you are having trouble getting it to work on your device.  With this new release I also introduced in-app purchasing for yearly FAR/AIM data updates.  Basically when the 2012 FAR/AIM data becomes available, I’ll push out an update and it will ask you for a small $1.99 to get the data.  Meaning if you decide you’re okay with outdated data, you can decide not to get the update and continue using the application with the old data.

Enjoy and again please forward all bugs to my email and I’ll get them fixed as soon as possible!

I love the far/aim app but its missing the pilot/controller glossary. I would think it would easy to add on. I carry an ipod with me and the the app for iphone has the glossary in it but it seems more difficult to follow overall

Hello. Amazing how few FAR/AIM apps there are on the Market… I like what im seeing here, but I have a few questions.

Will your app run on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus? I have to ask only because EA games can’t even make scrabble work for my phone… And can you list the included Parts in the colllection of FARs? Some publications omit certain Parts. Since I’m a pilot who’s also in A&P school, I need most of them.

    Thanks!

    Robert,

Thanks for your interest! I’m not 100% sure if the app works on the Galaxy Nexus. I haven’t had any reports of it not working on the Nexus. What I would suggest is to purchase the app, and the Android Market gives you 15 minutes to play with it and give you a full refund if you don’t like it or if it doesn’t work on your phone. Please let me know if it doesn’t work and I will do my best to update the app so it will work.

As for the included parts, the app includes all parts from 1 through 198, but it does NOT include the supplements. My understanding is most A&P guys want the supplements so I wanted to make sure you knew. However the app will still probably be very useful for you. I also plan to get the supplements included at some point in an update.

Thanks again for your interest and don’t forget to rate the app if you end up purchasing it!
